Overview
During the harsh winter of 2024, we initiated the Drumhouse Mission in Kanpur. The aim was to provide warmth and shelter for street dogs using repurposed drums converted into cozy resting spaces.
How We Did It
- Placed insulated drums across key locations in Kanpur city.
- Added straw, jute sacks, and soft material inside to keep them warm.
- Raised drums slightly above ground to avoid dampness and waterlogging.
- Positioned drums near food and water sources for accessibility.
Community Involvement
- Volunteers monitored and maintained the drumhouses regularly.
- Local residents were encouraged to “adopt a drum” and take care of it.
- Awareness campaigns highlighted the importance of protecting street dogs in winter.
Impact
- Dozens of street dogs found safe, warm places to rest.

The Dog Collar Drive was a community initiative dedicated to the safety and well-being of dogs, especially strays and rescued companions. Through this event, free, comfortable collars and personalized ID tags were distributed to help reduce lost-dog cases and ensure they can be easily reunited with their caretakers. Animal lovers and volunteers came together to spread awareness about responsible pet care, making the drive a meaningful success.
